ABOUT
It all began on 1st January 1938 when John and Ivy were married in England, choosing a 1st January wedding for tax reasons!
World War II broke out in 1939 and, beginning in 1940, London was subject to the Blitz. Women and children were evacuated to the countryside, my mother among them.
There must have been visits because on 10th May 1942 while my mother was still evacuated, I came along. I was born in Northampton.
Age 7 months with proud parents.
Here I am on my first birthday. I’m told that I was generally a happy baby.
My sister Wendy came along in 1943. Here she is at age 3 months with me at 19 months.
After the war we lived with my grandmother at Gilpin Grove in Edmonton, North London. This is a photo of the street party to celebrate the end of the World War II. I think the brick wall used as a background is one wall of the air-raid shelter. In the enlarged insert I am the one in the middle with Cyril Burrells on my left looking after me. I would be 3 or 4 years old.
